Multiple Sclerosis (MS) – Up Close and Personal

Multiple Sclerosis (MS) – Up Close and Personal

Come join Illinois Lt. Governor Evelyn Sanguinetti and Neurologist Dr. Neelum Aggarwal, on Friday, February 23, 2018 for a discussion about Multiple Sclerosis (MS) – Up Close and personal.

Lt. Governor Sanguinetti
Dr. Neelum Aggarwal

This will be an exciting evening of conversation and discussion about Multiple Sclerosis (MS)—a potentially disabling disease of the brain and spinal cord (central nervous system).

Dr. Aggarwal, an internationally renowned neurologist, scientist and author will provide the medical perspective of MS—how the immune system attacks the protective sheath (myelin) that covers nerve fibers and causes communication problems between the brain and the rest of the body. Eventually, the disease can cause the nerves themselves to deteriorate or become permanently damaged.

Lt. Governor Evelyn Sanguinetti will then discus her personal encounter with MS, how it has affected her life and how she is meeting the challenge in a highly productive and successful manner.

Following the remarks of Dr. Aggarwal and Lt. Governor Sanguinetti, there will be ample time for informal questions and answers.

The event will take place at the residence of Dr. Nancy RG Church and Charles Jett at 180 East Pearson Street, Unit 3301, in Chicago.

If you would like to be invited, send e-mail through the “Contact Us” page.

Miguel Cervantes, currently starring in the lead role of Hamilton, his wife, Kelly, and Susan Axelrod, the founder of Cure—Citizens United for Research in Epilepsy  will lead a discussion on Monday evening, October 30, at 7:00PM.

This will be an exciting evening of conversation and discussion about epilepsy—the fourth most common neurological disorder characterized by unpredictable seizures, related health problems, the wide range of seizure types and methods of control, and general public misunderstandings of its causes and challenges—which can be as destructive as the disease itself.

Miguel, Kelly and Susan will tell their personal stories—up close and personal—about the disorder and its effects not only on the individual affected, but their families as well. And they will tell you what you can do to support this effort.
